The Pfifferday (fiddlers’ festival)

The Legend tells that a Lord of Ribeaupierre gave a minstrel a coin because his instrument was broken. To thank him for his generosity the Minstrels chose this family to become their Suzerains.

Started in the 14th century, The Pfifferdaj is the oldest Festival in Alsace.

Real historical procession, The Pfifferdaj has preserved through the centuries the costumes, traditions and the colors of the past.

Two months prior to the parade, about 1500 people are dedicated to the building of the Floats, the makings of costumes ...awaited by 20 000 spectators who, year by year come to reward the work of all the volunteers.

Every year this event takes place on the first weekend of September.
